EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE WITH TRURO POLICE SENDS B & E SUSPECT TO HOSPITAL

Charges could be laid as early as Friday against two young men allegedly involved in a violent home invasion in the east end of Truro.

The province's Serious Incident Response Team says three Truro police officers were responding to a complaint about a home invasion around 6:30 a.m. yesterday when shots were fired.

Police say a suspect was struck when officers returned fire.

The man was taken to a Halifax hospital where he was last listed as being in stable condition, while one other man is in also in police custody.

The suspects are 18 and 19 years old.

The unit must file a public report on the incident within three months of finishing their investigation.

CONVICTED COLCHESTER COUNTY MURDERER CHARGED WITH 2 MORE HOMICIDES

A Colchester County man who received a life sentence last week for the execution-style killings of a couple in the province faces more murder charges in the deaths of two Quebec men.

The Montreal police service laid first-degree murder charges Tuesday against Leslie Douglas Greenwood in the deaths of 47-year-old Kirk Murray and 51-year-old Antonio Onesi.

Murray and Onesi were shot in the parking lot of a Montreal McDonald's in January 2010.

Greenwood, along with fellow convicted killer Michael Lawrence, fatally shot Barry Kirk Mersereau and his wife Nancy Paula Christensen in their Hants County home in 2000.

HEATHBELL MAN CHARGED IN AMBER KIRWAN'S DEATH

Nova Scotia RCMP and the New Glasgow Police Service have laid charges in the murder of Amber Kirwan.

At a press conference in New Glasgow Thursday morning, RCMP Superintendent Darrell Beaton, District Policing Officer for Northeast Nova Scotia, announced police have arrested and charged 29 year old Christopher Alexander Falconer with kidnapping and first degree murder in connection with the homicide of Kirwan.

Falconer was arrested at Dorchester Institution in New Brunswick at roughly 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16^th.

He was arrested for a parole violation last fall, and is currently serving the rest of his sentence for second-degree murder in the 1998 killing of a local cab driver.

Falconer has been arraigned in Pictou Provincial Court, and returns to court May 28th..

A woman who was also arrested Wednesday, has been released without charges, and police say they do no anticipate any further arrests.

19 year old Kirwan was reported missing to police on October 9^th, 2011.

Her remains were found in a wooded lot in Heathbell, Pictou County four weeks later.

There is still no word on how Kirwan died.

TWO VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN MASSTOWN

RCMP say charges may be laid after a two-vehicle accident at a busy Masstown intersection.

The accident happened early Thursday afternoon, at the intersection by Masstown Market.

The two drivers were sent to the Colchester Regional Hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries.

RCMP say the investigation continues, but also confirm the crash was the result of "driver error".
