She's here!

I am happy to finally announce that I delivered a baby girl on July 18th! One week overdue! My husband and I named her Elsie.
Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions on how to get labour going. My husband and sister made me walk, climb up and down stairs, dance, everything the day before she was born, so I guess it worked! I actually went into labour right after a baby shower that was thrown for me by my in-laws! :)
Elsie  weighed 7 pounds, 15.5 ounces at birth and is already growing like a weed. :)
Mommy and daddy are already so proud of our little girl. It's amazing how much they change from day to day!
Right now she likes to sleep during the day and keep mommy and daddy up at night... haha Oh, but it's worth it.
I'll keep updating from time to tim to ...

Still Waiting...

Posted By: Mindy Malko · 7/16/2011 2:09:00 PM
I’m sure I jinxed myself with my last blog. I am now 5 days overdue and getting impatient! I know most new moms go late, but I was really hoping I would have my baby early. I have stepped up my efforts in trying to induce labour. I have gone on multiple long walks, long car drives, walking up and down stairs, eating spicy food, and drinking raspberry leave tea. As a joke, my sister bought me castor oil... and I might seriously consider it! :P I have another doc appointment on Monday for an ultrasound if I don’t have the baby by then. *Fingers crossed* I'll keep you posted!

Miss me yet?

Posted By: Mindy Malko · 7/2/2011 9:19:00 PM
So I’ve been gone for almost 2 weeks. I know I miss everyone in the dog house and you as well. Things seem to be going well in my absence, but I think I’ll have to stop in for a visit soon. No baby yet, as I still have 9 days to go before the "official" due date, but I’m still hoping this baby comes early. But watch, just because I want that, the baby will be late. My family has been making guesses on when the baby will arrive. My husband predicted Canada Day. (Well, he was wrong) :P My sister-in-law thinks July 5th, I said July 7th, and my other sister-in-law said July 9th. My mother-in-law (who we call Momma B) predicted July 15th! Gosh, I hope I don’t go that late! I’ve been trying all the old wives tales of trying to get ...

It's not goodbye, it's see you later!

It’s a bittersweet time for me. I’m off on maternity leave after this weekend. I’m excited and nervous about this new chapter in my life, but a little sad that I’ll be away from the dog house. That won’t stop me from visiting from time to time though! I also hope that you check back to my personality page, because I will continue to update my blog while away. It will mostly be about my new mommy adventures. (Don’t worry, it won’t be TMI) And you never know, you might just hear me on air once in awhile. I'll need to keep tabs on the rest of the crew!

So thanks again for tuning in, I will miss you all! Until next time!

Happiest Time in a Marriage

Posted By: Mindy Malko · 6/10/2011 2:02:00 PM

Do you remember the happiest time in your marriage? If you’re not married, then how about your relationship with your significant other? I know once you get into a routine the sparks may settle down, but are you still happy? Well, according to a British wedding website, they have it all figured out.

Apparently, the happiest time in a marriage is 11 months and 8 days after the wedding. This was the conclusion after surveying 4000 married couples. It makes sense to a certain degree. You’re still technically in the honeymoon phase, and maybe children aren’t in the picture yet. (Not to say that kids cause unhappiness in a marriage, but it can put some strains in a relationship.)

Anywho, don’t worry if you’ve been married longer than that. It’s not all downhill after that time period. If you’ve been married for 2 years and 4 months, couples enjoy romantic ...
